RemarksEdit

  • Iota (ι℩) appears in two forms
  • Sigma (σς) appears in two forms, σ when in the middle or at the beggining of the word and ς (much like our s) when it is the last letter in the word
  • Zeta can be pronounced more like an Sd or Zd, so Zeus should be more correctly pronounced Zd-eu-s

DipthongsEdit

Dipthongs are where two or more vowels written together run together to give a different sound:

Dipthongs

It should be noted that vowels may appear next to each other and not be pronounced as dipthongs

BreathingsEdit

Whenever there is a vowel or a rho at the beginning of a word there is a breathing which is either rough (Pronounced like an H) or smooth (ignored) These appear much like apostrophes in our punctuation. If a word starts with a dipthong, the breathing is on the second vowel thereof

Iota SubscriptEdit

Sometimes in Greek there is an iota subscript written beneath a vowel, this functions much like a normal iota would after said vowel but is slightly softer and is not pronounced separately but is elided onto the end of the vowel and pronounced more like an e in English.
