The Haber Process is the reversible reaction in which Nitrogen (N) and Hydrogen (H) form ammonia (NH3).

This process is important because it is hard to break the strong triple bond of nitrogen.

N2 + 3H2 ⇌ 2NH3

The optimum conditions required for this reaction to occur are:

  • 450°C
  • 250 atm
  • Powdered iron catalyst.
