Weight, in physics, is a measurement of the gravitational force on an object. It is measured in newtons (N). In most other applications, including commercial, weight is actually what in science is the mass.

## Calculating weight Edit

There is a formula that can be used to calculate the weight of an object, given its mass and the gravitational field strength where the object is located:

• $W = m \times g$, where W is the weight in newtons, m is the mass in kilograms and g is the gravitational field strength in N/kg. Earth's gravitational field strength is taken as 10 N/kg.
