Weight, in physics, is a measurement of the gravitational force on an object. It is measured in newtons (N). In most other applications, including commercial, weight is actually what in science is the mass.

Calculating weight Edit

There is a formula that can be used to calculate the weight of an object, given its mass and the gravitational field strength where the object is located:

  • W = m \times g, where W is the weight in newtons, m is the mass in kilograms and g is the gravitational field strength in N/kg. Earth's gravitational field strength is taken as 10 N/kg.
